Discussion in Online Courses
Mihri
Napoliello and Donna Farina, both professors in the Multicultural
Education Department, have found a successful strategy for incorporating
group discussion into their WebCT course. For evaluation purposes,
a discussion board rubric is used to grade student’s participation
in discussions. Professors Napoliello and Farina find that students
better understand course expectations, discussion quality is improved,
and they have fewer student complaints regarding grading outcomes.
